Professor Judy Krauss has been a member of the School of Nursing faculty since 1971, and served as Dean of the School from January 1985 through June 1998. She is currently Deputy Director of the Program for the Study of Health Care Relationships, housed in the YSN Center for Health Policy and Ethics and funded by the Donaghue Foundation. Professor Krauss is also Master of Silliman College, one of Yale's 12 residential colleges. Since 1985, Judy has served as Editor of Archives of Psychiatric Nursing, a respected practice, research and policy journal. Her fields of interest include health and mental health policy with particular emphasis on public policies that affect vulnerable populations. She is a noted expert on care of persons with serious and persistent mental disorders. In 1998, the American Academy of Nursing and the American Nurses Foundation appointed her Distinguished Scholar in Residence at the Institute of Medicine (IOM), where she helped conduct the background research for the IOM report America's Health Care Safety Net: Intact But Endangered. She currently serves as a member of the Markle Foundation's Connecting for Health Project, a national work group examining the privacy, security, practical, and ethical implications of electronic communications in health care.
