Commencement 2005

On May 23rd, 2005, Yale School of Nursing presented close to 80 students with MSN degrees and one student with a doctoral degree. Mary L. Wykle, Dean and Florence Cellar Professor of Nursing at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University, gave the keynote address titled, "Global Health Care - Nurses Making a Difference." In her talk, Dr. Wykle congratulated YSN graduates on their achievements, their vision, and their courage, and challenged them to apply the knowledge and skills they had perfected at Yale to make a resounding difference in the world health community. Allison D. Marshall, MSN '05, whose mom, Maureen Doran was also a Yale Nurse, was chosen by her classmates to give the student address. Misae Ueha, MSN '05, received the 2005 Charles King, Jr. Memorial Scholars Aid Prize for her work to improve health care in Central and South America. Following the commencement ceremony at the Shubert Theater in New Haven, a celebration for students and their families was held at the Omni Hotel in downtown New Haven.

We encourage you to read Dean Wykle's and Allison Marhsall's remarks and Misae's citation, and to view photographs from the day's events. To do so, please follow the links on this page. The faculty and staff of the Yale School of Nursing congratulate the class of '05 and their families on this outstanding achievement!
