About the book

Five thousand women enter menopause every day! While some of them will sail through it, others aren't so lucky. Now, women suffering from the uncomfortable and often unpredictable symptoms of menopause - from hot flashes to sleepless nights - will find the guidance and advice they need in 100 Questions and Answers About Menopause.

Authors Ivy Alexander and Karla Knight have written easy to read and authoritative answers to 100 of the most common questions women have about menopause and their health at midlife and beyond. Women who have hot flashes or soaking sweats at inopportune moments; who are suddenly stricken with the need to urinate every 10 minutes and don't want to leave their house; who don't understand why they don't want to have sex - ever again; who cry at the drop of a hat or feel inexplicably irritated with those around them; or who think they're destined to never sleep again - don't want to hear that it's normal to experience lots of different symptoms. They want to know how to feel better. 100 Questions and Answers About Menopause helps them do that and more.

Menopause is not the only concern of midlife women. The authors take on questions of heart disease, osteoporosis, breast cancer, diabetes, and obesity, and they also dissect the anatomy of the hormone therapy controversy, presenting a balanced and factual approach to the decision to use hormones or not. Readers will find a wealth of information about lifestyle changes, herbal therapies, prescription medications, hormone therapy and complimentary therapies that can help women get healthy at midlife.

The authors discuss difficult issues surrounding the hormone therapy controversy, natural hormones and how to make the best decisions about treatment and lifestyle. This book is an invaluable resource for anyone coping with the physical and emotional turmoil of this condition.
