Welcome to the Yale School of Nursing!!! The Office of Student Affairs is available to assist you in getting ready for your studies at YSN and your possible move to New Haven. CPR Certification
All YSN students must be CPR certified before enrolling in the program. The certification needs to include CPR for both the Child and the Adult. Below are links to popular certification sites. You will need to give the Office of Student Affairs a copy of your CPR certification card when you arrive for orientation. Student also need to keep a valid CPR certification throughout their studies at YSN.

Licensure (RN students only)
Students who are registered nurses must present evidence of current Connecticut R.N. licensure to the Office of Student Affairs at orientation. If the student is a new graduate from a nursing program, licensure steps must at least be in progress. Students are also required to maintain active Connecticut R.N. licensure while enrolled in the School of Nursing.
As the school is accredited for educating RNs and it is assumed that admitted students have been prepared to pass the NCLEX- RN during their undergraduate years, students admitted to the program must pass the NCLEX-RN by November 1 of their first specialty year. Students who have not passed the NCLEX-RN by this time may be required to withdraw or take a leave of absence and will be required to make individual arrangements for completion of the Specialty requirements after receiving a passing grade on the NCLEX-RN.
Graduates of foreign schools of nursing admitted to the program must pass the NCLEX-RN by November 1 of their first year. Students who have not passed the NCLEX-RN by this time may be required to withdraw or take a leave of absence and will be required to make individual arrangements for completion of the Specialty requirements after receiving a passing grade on the NCLEX-RN. Please allow several months to complete the CGFNS & NCLEX-RN process.
Anatomy (GEPN students only)
If you wish to waive the School's course in Anatomy, you will need to have taken a two credit hour course in Human Anatomy within the past 5 years. If you take a course in Human Anatomy and Physiology, it should be 4 credit hours in order to get enough anatomy content. If the course is offered as "Anatomy and Physiology I" followed by "Anatomy and Physiology II" you will need to take both so that you cover all body systems.
